Buzz on Burts Bee’s New Intense Hydration Line

As you all know, I am a buzz agent. I tested out Green Mountain’s Free Trade Coffee and wrote about it last week. This week, I’m writing about Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Product Line. I was given full size samples of the Cream Cleanser, Treatment Mask, and the night cream all made with Clary Sage. I have been using all three; here are my thougts

First, I tested the intense hydration cream cleanser with clary sage. Per the bottle, it intensely hydrates dry skin, removes dirt, oil and make-up and has probiotic technology. I really like this cleanser. It felt great on my skin and left it felling both clean and moisturized. It is a think cream, and you feel like you will have it gunked on your skin when you first apply it, however as it works it’s magic, it does wonders on your skin.

You are supposed to follow up the cream cleanser with the intense hydration treatment mask. This product also itensly hydrates dry skin and has probiotic technology, in addition it claims to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I really didn’t like this product as much as the cleanser. It too is very thick. This is supposed to be left on the skin for 5-10 minutes and then the excess is supposed to be “remove[d] with a tissue”. This stuff is so thick, removing with a tissue doesn’t work. I actually ended up applying some water and rubbing the excess in further. Using the treatment mask kind of negates the clean fresh feeling of the cleanser

Finally, I have been using the night cream. Again, it is a very thick product, where a little goes a long way. I put it on a little before bed so it has time to soak in and not stick to my pillow cases. I don’t love it as much as my usual Olay night cream which is a little thinner and less sticky.

My skin tends to get dry in the winter and with the cold weather we’ve been having, it was the perfect time to test out the hydration line. Although, I like their lip balm, think that all their skin care line is a little on the sticky side. I also noticed that when I used the intense mask, I would wake up with a pimple or two. I’m not sure if that was from the dirt loosening up from the cleanser, the mask, or the combination of both of them. I don’t feel like the mask or the night cream was actually penetrating my skin, but sitting like a waxy coating on my skin.

So, my thoughts, pick up the cleanser, skip the moisturizer and mask.

  1. I like Burt’s Bees products, haven’t tried these yet tho…my skin tends to break out if I use “heavy” products, so I’m not sure how it would work for me…
