Running of the Bulls, A Lot Closer to Home

In Spain But No Bull Running

One of my bucket list items is to attend the running of the bulls in Pamplona (technically known as an encierro).

I don’t know anyone who has done it, so I would like to try it. I think it could be quite exciting to run with the crowd, and try to avoid being trampled by a 400lb moving hamburger.

I do have some concerns around it, not so much the keep ahead of the hamburger, but rather getting lost in the crowd, in a country where I don’t know the language very well. The run isn’t very far though, it is about 903 yards which is shorter than an American football field. Although 200-300 people are injured in the run each year (mostly contusions from falls), only 15 people have died in the past 100 years.

Turns out, I don’t actually have to fly all the way to Spain to get my bull run on. I can do it right here in the good ole US of A! Cave Creek, Arizona hosted their 4th Annual Running of the Bulls this past weekend.

Something I may need to look in to in the future….

Incase you are interested, here is the original article I found: .: Running of the Bulls USA | Cave Creek, Arizona :..

Anyone interested in running with me (and the bulls)?
